Gloria Stuart (Sheekman) was famous at The Garden for her abilities, not only as an actress (that wouldn't have mattered), but as an hostess. Her events blended sparkling company with multi-course gourmet meals, despite the incredibly small kitchens in the bungalows. She regularly used not only her own oven and refrigerator, but also those of her immediate neighbors, who were happy to help - and were often her guests.
